Beautiful wallpaper, hot springs or fancy desserts are all well and good. But for us, it’s important not just to fill our hotel with a good feeling. We also want to try to do a little more for the world around us, something that could make a difference. We can’t do everything, but everyone can do something!
Environmental & social responsibility
The aim of our sustainability work is to take responsibility for the cycle of which our activities are a part. The responsibility rests heavily on all of us to contribute to future generations. That’s why we have ambitious targets for purchasing, water consumption, energy use and waste. Our sustainability work is so much more than the environment, it also involves people and the economy.
Building
With modern technology in our buildings, we manage energy consumption in an optimal and resource-efficient way. All new installations and construction work must be carried out with the highest environmental standards. For example, we work with energy recovery from refrigerators, freezers and pools at our spa hotels.
A sustainable stay
Billingehus is Nordic Swan Ecolabel certified, just like our sister hotels in the Lotus Hotel Group. The label takes a holistic approach and sets requirements for energy consumption, waste reduction, water consumption and chemicals. Our range of consumables and sales materials is also Nordic Swan Ecolabeled.
Own wind turbine
We have our own wind turbine that supplies us with electricity. And best of all, it’s not just us, but also our sister hotels Varbergs Stadshotell & Asia Spa, Arken Hotel & Art Garden Spa and Hôtel Eggers.
Fossil-free vehicle fleet
We have a number of electric and hybrid cars, which are the first choice for travel, after trains, bicycles and buses. We also have a large number of charging stations for electric cars for our guests.
Equality & Diversity
Our activities should keep the doors open to projects and people that contribute to greater integration of backgrounds such as age, disabilities, nationalities, gender and sexual orientation. Every employee is an asset to the company.
Sustainable experiences
Gerd Johansson is responsible for ensuring that the impressions our guests take with them after a stay have also left as low an environmental footprint as possible. Her work spans three areas of our business – social sustainability, economic sustainability and the environment.
Lotus Love – our own spa products
Lotus Love are products specially designed for our relaxing environment and well-being. It is inspired by the lotus flower, which symbolizes purity and promotes happiness and longevity.
It’s not just the packaging that’s beautiful, but also the contents. Our Lotus Love products are both Nordic Swan Ecolabeled and vegan. For example, we have a scented candle made of soy wax, which is biodegradable, and our products also contain no microplastics.
We work on the global goals
Our Group’s commitment to a better world is a long-standing one. All our work must promote health and contribute to sustainable development, both on a daily and long-term basis. The aim is for our business to be able to use and save the earth’s resources.
Whistleblower function
The Lotus Hotel Group has good internal controls, but despite this there may be irregularities. We encourage people with knowledge or suspicion of wrongdoing to report it.
